Follow-up to the Forum: Discussion with Dr. Martin Auerbach
Whenever we engage with our ancestors’ survival stories, we often feel a strong, yet sometimes undefined connection to the present. These feelings that arose during the International Forum of 2nd and 3rd Generation in May raised a lot of open questions that we would like to catch up on.
To this end, we would like to invite you to join us for a talk and discussion with Dr. Martin Auerbach, former clinical director of AMCHA Israel, who has decades of experience in working with Holocaust survivors and their families.
A child of a Ravensbrück survivor himself, Martin Auerbach has also worked with descendants of other victims of Nazi persecution. In a short presentation, he will share insights from his field of work and provide food for thought that can help us understand the ongoing impact of family history on our individual and collective present.
Afterwards, there will be room for discussion and questions that arose during the last Forum or during the presentation. We are interested in hearing about the processes you went through after your last visit to the Ravensbrück Memorial Museum, and about your expectations and wishes for the future of the Second and Third Generations Network.
Schedule:
- Opening Remarks by Dr. Andrea Genest and Dr. Matthias Heyl (Ravensbrück Memorial Museum) and Alisa Gadas (AMCHA Germany)
- Presentation: “‘Knowing and not knowing’ – The difficulty of recognising traumatic events” by Dr. Martin Auerbach
Registration is required:
